SoftBank Posts Mixed Results Despite ¥248.6 Billion Quarterly Profit
SoftBank Group reported a ¥248.6 billion quarterly profit, falling short of the ¥336.7 billion estimate. While net sales ROSE 7.9% to ¥5.72 trillion for the nine-month period, the performance was uneven. Investment gains doubled to ¥4.22 trillion, but non-Vision Fund investments plummeted 91.9% to ¥163.4 billion.
The Vision Funds unit staged a dramatic recovery, posting a ¥3.6 trillion gain compared to last year's ¥309.9 billion loss. SoftBank's aggressive bets on AI, including a $40 billion commitment to OpenAI through its SVF2 fund, underscore its strategic pivot toward artificial intelligence dominance.
